Kyle Shewfelt's stirring gold medal performance in the floor exercise has become the international standard since the 2004 Olympics in Athens.

A defining performance for Kyle also became a transcendent moment in Canadian sport history blazing a trail for a new generation of gymnasts, fortifying the depth of the Canadian team in the years to come, and sending thousands of new kids tumbling into gyms across the Country.

As he enters the year leading up to the Games, he's renewed his vision for Beijing 2008 to join the rarefied group of Canadian athletes that have repeated gold medal performances.

An engaging speaker, Kyle creatively weaves his personal and motivational stories into topics ranging from taking risks to grace under pressure... he truly is one of Canada's best.

Kyle: Yeah, you could say that I have a few stories to tell, and getting the chance to share them is one of the most fulfilling parts of being a full-time athlete. I've done talks for schools, volunteer groups and corporations and it has become something that I really enjoy doing. I have a lot of fun when I am in front of a group and I even try to be interesting... there is nothing worse than a boring speaker (although a nap is always appreciated!). I've been doing gymnastics for 20 years of my life and it has given me a lot of material. You name the topic, I've got an anecdote! Although most people just want to know what it feels like to stand on the podium and hear the National Anthem. I'll give you that answer right now: I was numb, I couldn't believe I had won and didn't realize that I was an actual Olympic Champion until a few hours later... It was an ultimate dream come true and that takes a little while to absorb!
